Congratulations to all our band and color guard members on a very successful two weeks of percussion and full band camp! Great attitudes, great effort, and unbelievable weather helped us set off on the best foot for a great season! We have a few updates for this week - see below:
Schedule Monday: 7-11 AM - Woodwind, Brass, & Percussion only Tuesday: 7-11 AM - Woodwind Brass, & Percussion only; 6-9 PM Full Band & Color Guard Wednesday: 7-11 AM - Woodwind, Brass, & Percussion only Thursday: 6 - 9 PM - Full Band & Color Guard Make sure you arrive early enough to be set in place with music & instrument BEFORE rehearsal begins! Parent Preview In our original band camp schedule we were going to have a parent preview on Thursday, August 12. Due to ongoing construction at the stadium as well as inside the school building, we lack a suitable place to properly perform and host our traditional pot-luck dinner. We are postponing our Preview Dinner and performance. We plan to incorporate the parent preview into one of our regular evening rehearsals a little later in August or very early September when we can also showcase the new stadium! Weather We were blessed with terrific weather this past week which we knew wouldn't last forever - hotter temps are in store for next week. Make sure to hydrate! We may even have a competitive hydration event at the end of Wednesday's rehearsal this coming week...just FYI... Apps Make sure you have downloaded and joined the Band App. Instructions can be found HERE. Students also need to download and install the UBD Pro App. If you need assistance, check with an instructor during rehearsal this week. Students without a mobile device will be provided paper drill charts. COVID Precautions This past week the Johnson County Department of Health and the Blue Valley School District updated COVID guidance. Please note the following: - Masks are HIGHLY recommended when inside for all students and staff, regardless of vaccination status. Students who would also like to use a musician's mask during inside rehearsals may do so as well. - Bell Covers with MERV filtration are REQUIRED during all inside rehearsals. These were distributed last week - any student who did not attend last week and needs a bell cover should check with a director to get one. It is recommended that students leave the bell covers on when outside as well to make transitions between rehearsals easier. - We continue to use additional COVID mitigation strategies such as physical spacing; rehearsing outdoors or in large rooms with high ventilation rates; and rotating rooms during indoor rehearsals. - Keeping students safe Is certainly our first priority. We are very proud of how our students adapted to these measures last year, and are thankful for the guidance and materials that have allowed us to return to a more normal band experience for our students. If you have any questions regarding COVID protocols please do not hesitate to contact one of our directors. Comments are closed.
