This weeks update is a little slow - hoping that EVERYONE took an opportunity to rest and relax on Sunday after the conclusion of our KBA Performances and that our students enjoyed their day off today!
Marching Band Congratulations on a strong finish to our marching band season! The past several weeks we have had excellent engagement in our rehearsals, and we continued improving our performance up through our Finals run on Saturday night where we gave our strongest performance of the season. Keeping forward momentum is always a challenge, and you continued working right up to the very last moment of the season. Placements and scoring may not always turn out the way we want or expect, but competition results only reflect the judges' opinions on one given day. What matters most is the growth that we all go through during the season, and we are exceptionally pleased with what YOU as a band have accomplished since we first met back in May. There is a lot to be thankful for and proud of this season. First and foremost, we finally got to HAVE a marching season after a 2 year break due to COVID. Of the 129 students who made up the Red and Silver Brigade this year, 110 had never marched or ever learned a marching show, and they showed tremendous grit as they learned how to march and play. We welcomed many new faces into our BVW Band Family and re-learned how to function as an ensemble. We started many new traditions with our own stadium for football games. And most importantly we laid a strong foundation to continue building upon as our program enters its third decade. From our staff, thank you to our students - we have enjoyed getting to know you better and getting to share in the many special moments that make up a marching season! We look forward to the many exciting things that lie ahead for us this year! Thank you to our parents - without your time and effort we could not possibly do what we need to help our students be successful! Your contributions this season have been much-appreciated! And finally to our seniors - THANK YOU for your guidance to both our new staff and new members this season. You have done a great job bridging the old and new, and we are again, excited to share in all that lies ahead through the rest of our year!
