Band Update for 7/18 - 7/24

As we approach the start of summer band camp, we also return to our weekly BVW Band Updates. For new members and families, the BVW Band Update provides announcements, reminders, and details for upcoming performances and other events. This Update as well as focused announcements can ALWAYS be found on the BVW website, bvwestband.com.
 
Summer Band Camp
Camp begins with our Percussion Camp from July 25 – 29 and Full Band Camp August 1 – 5 and August 9, 11, and 13. Please remember that attendance at all rehearsals, camps, and performances is required of all band members, and that any schedule conflicts need to be communicated via email to Mr. Love as early as possible.
 
Camp Reminders

Remember to wear tennis shoes with socks; shorts or athletic leggings; and a BVW colored t-shirt. Students must bring water and should wear sunscreen and / or a hat. Students not dressed to safely participate in our rehearsals will be asked to go home and change to ensure their safe and enjoyable participation in camp activities.
 
Students should bring a sack lunch or may walk / drive to any of the area restaurants during our break. Students may park in the student lot south of the band field. Parents may drop students off in the bus loop. Punctuality is essential. Students need to arrive early enough to have equipment ready and to be in place before rehearsal begins.

Car Wash Fundraiser
 
Our annual Car Wash takes place on July 30. This is a fun day for bonding and raising money. Click the link to read more info. You can also find a link for parent volunteer sign-ups HERE.
 
Uniform Fittings
 
Uniform fittings for all marching band students take place on August 6. Students will be assigned a specific time block to attend. All students will take a picture in uniform as well for Senior Banners and Spirit Buttons.
 
Summer Conditioning
 
Reminder that students still have opportunities to earn their White and Silver Music and Marching beads prior to camp. Students who have learned and practiced these skills will be set up for success on day 1 of camp! There is one more conditioning this week on Thursday, and next week there will be opportunities for students to come in during the day.
 
Band Forms
 
Reminder that there are two forms due in the coming weeks for band.
Fair Share Form – Due August 1 with first payment. Forms can be submitted digitally or printed copies can be dropped in the band room.
KSHSAA Physical – Required for all band members. Due no later than August 15.
KSHSAA Participation Forms – Online forms required of all band members. Due no later than August 15.
