Enrollment Guidance

The enrollment process for the 2022-2023 school year is underway. For current BVW Band students and rising 9th graders from LKMS and PRMS that are planning to play in band for next year, please note the following points:

• When selecting classes make sure to include a band class for both semesters! 
  • Current BVW Band students should enroll in their same band class.
  • 8th Grade students should enroll in Freshman Band. 
  • That said - the class doesn't really matter - as long as A BAND CLASS Is on your schedule you will be fine.
  • Mr. Love and Mr. Ramsey provide class assignments to counselors in the spring.

• NEW - Next year, ALL band students will be scheduled into 1st hour for the fall semester, and then split out Into ensemble classes for spring.
  • This is the SAME schedule that is used at all other Blue Valley Schools and most all other band programs in Johnson County, and was the model used at West for the first 14 years of the program's existence.
  • This provides a stronger family experience for all of our band members.
  • This provides a more consistent rehearsal experience during the fall and specifically during marching band leading to higher performance quality for our fall show. 
  • This will enable us to reduce some of our evening time commitments providing better balance for ALL of our band members and reinforcing our commitment to Band AND...however this is not a reduction in rehearsal time - it is actually a net gain of time.
  • Using morning time for rehearsals will provide more consistent access to facilities and to provide consistent instruction for Color Guard.
