How do I join 5th grade band?
Your band teacher will talk to your 5th grade classes about trying out instruments during class. We also host an Instrument Testing Night at Pleasant Ridge Middle School on Wednesday, August 28th, 2019, from 4-7 p.m. where you can come with your parents to try out instruments. After you've decided what instrument you want to play, fill out the form below (available on the testing night as well) to get your information entered!
Where and how do I get an instrument?
There are many music stores in the area that both rent and sell beginning band instruments. If you have trouble finding an instrument or don't know where to look, please contact your band teacher!
IMPORTANT: check out this letter from Janelle Brower, the Blue Valley Performing Arts Coordinator. This letter details the importance of getting your student a quality instrument. The list of instrument specifications (also below) tells you exactly what brands, models, and accessories you should look for when getting an instrument. Most music stores in the area follow this list, but it's a good idea to ask when you make a purchase!
