Jazz Ensembles

Jazz Ensemble operates with a traditional big-band style instrumentation. Students perform at several concerts, community events, and in adjudicated festivals throughout the school year. Jazz Ensemble rehearses from 7:30 8:20 once or twice per week from November through late April and performs at 2-3 concerts and several festivals and community events throughout the spring semester. The BVW Jazz Ensemble has performed by invitation at the Kansas Music Educators Association State In-Service Workshop as well as other Regional and National events.

Jazz Lab is a semester or year-long course open to any student interested in further developing their jazz techniques. Students focus on both individual practice and projects as well as combo and small ensemble rehearsals.
