Fall Color Guard & Winter Guard

The Fall Color Guard is an integral part of the Red & Silver Brigade. Color Guard adds visual interest and dynamic energy to the fall marching show. The Color Guard at Blue Valley West performs with flags, weapons, and dance choreography at all home football games and competitions with the band. Color Guard members enroll in 1st Block Band during the fall and also rehearse two evenings a week with occasional sectional rehearsals.
Winter Guard is an extension of our Color Guard program at Blue Valley West. Winter Guard develops and indoor performance show that helps students develop advanced skills on flag, saber, rifle, and movement. Winter Guard performs at several competitions in the MCCGA Circuit each winter in a season that begins in November and runs from November through late March or Early April.
No previous guard experience is required for either of these groups! There are workshops in the spring and early November to help teach the fundamental skills for both groups.
