Marching Percussion & Jaguar Percussion Group
In the fall, all Percussion Students form the front ensemble and drumline for the marching band. Percussion students are all enrolled in 1st Block to allow for intensive instruction in percussion techniques and development as a performing ensemble. In the spring semester students move to their respective Concert Ensemble classes based on placements from the spring.
Jaguar Percussion Group is an extra-curricular percussion ensemble that meets during the week in the winter and spring months. This group hosts its own percussion festival at Blue Valley West. JPG performs at least two concerts and participates in the KSHSAA Solo and Ensemble Festival each spring. JPG has also traveled extensively in the Midwest to perform at events such as the KMEA State Convention, Kansas Day of Percussion, and PASIC in Indianapolis.
