Ms. Maddie Cain is thrilled to serve as the Director of Bands at Lakewood Middle School in the Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, KS. 


This is Ms. Cain’s first year at Lakewood Middle School. Prior to this, she student-taught at Blue Valley Northwest High School where she assisted with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band. She also assisted with the 6th grade beginning bands at Oxford and Harmony Middle Schools during this time. In the last five years, she has also assisted with several area marching band programs, including Olathe North, Buhler High School, and Blue Valley West.


Ms. Cain holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Kansas. She graduated with departmental honors and was a recipient of the Marcus E. Hahn Award for outstanding achievement, musicianship, and leadership in Music Education. For four years at KU, Ms. Cain  performed as a member of the Wind Ensemble, Men’s Basketball Pep Band, Clarinet Studio, and more. She was a part of the University of Kansas Marching Jayhawks for four years, including one as a drum major. She also served as Vice President of KU’s NAfME chapter and the Vice President of Membership for Kappa Kappa Psi. She keeps up playing her clarinet in the Crossroads Wind Symphony and the Overland Park Civic Band.


Outside of LKMS, Ms. Cain enjoys spending time outside, traveling, and trying new coffee shops around Kansas City.
